Cellular & Molecular Neuroscience

Research Focus

Cellular & Molecular Neuroscience

Eight laboratories within the Department of Physiology use modern technologies to investigate the development and functioning of the nervous system.

Studies are undertaken at molecular, cellular and system levels with the aim of understanding neural functioning in an integrative manner within the whole animal. In addition to national and international collaborations, members of these laboratories share technical expertise, collaborate on joint projects and meet regularly to review work.

A summer research project is an excellent way to get a taste for what scientific research is like. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in carrying on with science beyond undergraduate level.
